1. First Sunday of Advent

3. Cyber Monday

5. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is celebrated every year in the US on 7th December. This day is celebrated to commemorate the attack during the Second World War on Pearl Harbour in Hawaii.

This day pays tribute to all those American servicewomen and men who got injured or lost their lives in the attack. They were attacked on the same day, 77 years ago, i.e., on 7th December 1941.

6. Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated by most of Christians (mainly Catholic Christians) on 8th December in the US.

Special services are held at many churches (our of which, most of them are Catholic churches) in the US to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

The concept of which is that the Virgin Mary was conceived without sin. In Guam, this day is celebrated as a public holiday.

7. Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The day of the Virgin of Lady Guadalupe has become more popular among some of the American communities, and this day is celebrated on 12th December in the US. This day is dedicated to Jesus’ mother, Mary.

This day is prevalent in the south-west part of the US (for example, in Los Angeles). This day is celebrated to pay tribute to the mother of Jesus Christ, Mary.

8. Pan American Aviation Day

Pan American Aviation Day is celebrated every year on 17th December in the United States. This is quite different from National Aviation Day, and it falls on the same day when Wright Brothers Day is celebrated. The main aim of this day is to encourage the interest of people in aviation in American countries.

With this event, cultural development and more rapid communications have been developed among the countries in the western hemisphere.

9. Wright Brothers Day

Wright Brothers Day is celebrated on the 17th of December in the US. This day is celebrated in memory of the Wright Brothers who invented and successfully flew their first airplane (mechanically propelled craft) on this day.

The US President holds appropriate activities and ceremonies on this day and Americans are invited to observe them.

Kitty Hawk in North Carolina and Dayton, Ohio also celebrates this day because the brothers were born at these places only.

10. December Solstice

December Solstice is considered to be the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This day may fall on December 20, 21, 22, or 23.

This day is the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and is also known to be the darkest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

However, it is the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere and is known to be the longest day of the year.

During the December Solstice, in the Southern Hemisphere, you can observe that the Sun is directly overhead of the Tropic of Capricorn. December Solstice rarely falls on December 20 or 23. It generally happens on December 21 or 22.

11. Chanukah/Hanukkah (first day)

Hanukkah is one of the major events celebrated in the United States. This is an eight-day observance for the Jewish community. It is celebrated to pay tribute to the struggle of Jewish people for religious freedom.

This day is also known as the Festival of Lights, or Chanukah. Some of the famous highlights of this event are giving gifts, eating foods fried in oil (such as fried bread, potato cakes, etc), playing games with a four-sided toy (dreidel), etc.

12. Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is known to be the evening just before the day of Christmas. It is celebrated on 24th December in the US. People visit their relatives and friends, spend time with family, and gift each other presents.

In some areas of the US, Christmas Eve is celebrated as a public holiday while in some areas, it is a typical working day.

13. Washington’s Birthday

In Georgia and Indiana (USA), Washington’s Birthday is celebrated on 24th December every year. This day is also known as Presidents’ Day and is known to be a federal holiday.

It is dedicated to honoring all the presidents of the US, including the first president of the US, George Washington.

President’s Day or Washington’s Birthday is a public holiday. This day is a tribute to all the former presidents of the US. This is the reason why this day is also celebrated as “President’s Day” in some parts of the US.

14. Christmas Day

ChristmasChristmas is among one of the significant events and festivals of the USA which is celebrated on 25th December every year. This day is celebrated in the memory of Jesus Christ’s birth. There is a public holiday on this day.

People do a lot of activities on this day, which includes decoration of pine trees with lights and other stuff, gifting each other with presents, spending time with family, etc. People also visit the church and light the candles on the occasion of Jesus’s birthday.

15. Kwanzaa (first day)

Kwanzaa is a seven-day holiday, which is held to honor the tradition and cultures of the African people. This day is celebrated between 26th December and 1st January every year.

Maulana Karenga, who was known to be an African-American leader, started this observance for the very first time. It was first celebrated in December 1966.

This event starts with lots of joy and ends with feats and an exchange of gifts.

16. Last Day of Chanukah

We earlier discussed Chanukah, which is among one of the significant events in the US for Jewish people. When Chanukah is about to end, they mark the last day of this event and celebrate it to have some fresh and amazing memories.

The last day of Chanukah or Hanukkah is also known as Zose Hanukkah, Zos Hanukkah or Zot Hanukkah. The main aim behind the celebration of this day is to remember this day till it comes again next year with new memories.

17. New Year’s Eve

New year31st December is known as the New Year’s eve and not only in the US, but this day is celebrated all over the world with the same excitement.

This is the last day of the year, and people throw parties, especially in the evening. The best way to welcome a new year is to embrace it with smiling faces. In some places, this day is a public holiday.

However, it is nothing more than an average day in other areas. Besides, this day is considered a major social holiday.
